Children and Youth Customer Experience Library Officer - Band 4

Permanent Part Time

Annual Salary range between $71,547 – $77,299 pro-rata (plus super)

Hours: Monday – 9am – 5pm, Tuesday – 9am – 5pm, Friday – 8.50am – 4.50pm, plus 1 Saturday every 4 weeks and 1 Sunday every 8 weeks

About the business and the role

Are you passionate about Children’s and Youth literacy and programming with proven supervisory experience? Then we want to hear from you! We have an exciting opportunity to join the Connected Libraries team.

This is a permanent part-time opportunity based at our Doveton Library facilitating programs including Sensory Play, Lego Club, and an afterschool program Nature Heroes. This role also includes visiting schools, Early Learning Centres and Playgroups within the Community.

This is a key role within the broader Doveton team, delivering high quality library services to the community. Your Children and Youth programs will include Sensory Play, Lego Club, and an afterschool program Nature Heroes.

In addition to specialising in children and youth, you will also provide an exceptional customer experience on the library floor, supporting our community’s diverse needs.

Your role will also see you actively promote and deliver children and youth services to the community outside the walls of the library, whilst building strong relationships with key stakeholders including local Schools, Early Learning Centres and Playgroups within the Community.

Connected Libraries are located in the City of Casey, which is one of Victoria’s largest, fastest growing and most diverse municipalities. We have 5 Libraries, a Library Lounge and 3 sets of 24/7 library lockers.

Key Selection Criteria

  • Knowledge and skills gained through on-the-job training commensurate with the requirements of the role

  • Post-trade or other post-secondary education

  • Proven experience facilitating children’s programs, either in public libraries or in a teaching capacity

  • Ability to effectively and efficiently provide quality customer service

  • Well-developed interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to communicate with all ages across all levels of community

  • Sound organisational skills

  • Strong information technology and problem-solving skills in a range of information technology and software tools

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team to meet organisational strategic outcomes

  • Ability to undertake supervisory responsibilities as required

  • Driver’s licence

  • Working with Children Check
