Inter-Library Loans & Purchase Requests

Connected Libraries is a member of Libraries Victoria, a network of Victorian public libraries.  Libraries Victoria gives participating library’s members free access to more than 3 million items across 150 library branches in Victoria.

If you can’t find the item you want in the library catalogue, you can request a purchase, or ask that we find it for you as an inter-library loan.

Inter-Library Loans

An inter-library loan allows you to request items that aren’t available in our library collection by sourcing them from other libraries.

Any items requested via inter-library loan, that is not accessible through our library catalogue, will incur a charge:

$5 if the item is found at another public library in Victoria.
$34.40 if the item is from a specialist library (standard Australian inter-library loan charge)

NOTE: We will always confirm with you before pursuing a request that will incur charges.

In some instances we may be able to get the item for free and we will always pursue these options first. You can search Trove – the National catalogue, to see which libraries hold the title you are interested in.

Request a Purchase

We can purchase items that are:

1.Requested by a Connected Libraries member
2.Still in publication and contain currently accurate content
3.DVDs that have been released in, and are available in Australia
4.Suitable for the library

Your favourite author’s new book may already be on order. Purchase requests are not needed for these popular authors.
Keep an eye on our catalogue to place your hold.
